GrindStone FAQ's

What is Grindstone?

There are students in every high school that want to make a difference and be of value in the community. Whether they are coding after class, taking photos for the yearbook, playing in the school band, or spending their weekends mowing neighbors lawns, they are always looking for new opportunities. Grindstone allows you to connect with these motivated high schoolers and find hard workers without having to pay exorbitant professional prices.

What are the safety and security measures?

Making sure Grindstone is a safe environment for all users is our number one priority. When any new user signs up the team reviews their profile and double checks any information that seems off. If something does not seem right, our first check is to call or message the user and if there is no response they are temporarily disabled. We also review all listings as soon as they are posted, and do checks over all messages 24/7. We are all human, we make mistakes, so if you see anything you believe we have missed, don't hesitate to report it or contact our support.

Who is Evan? ("About the Founder")

Evan Ajuria is the founder of Grindstone. He started Grindstone in his sophomore year of high school as a blog based platform where adults would fill out a form on WIX and, after being reviewed by the Grindstone team, their job would be posted onto a blog for students in the area. From there, students could ask questions by texting a phone number. After this market test proved successful, Evan started developing the mobile app in late 2019.

What are the Reviews/Ratings for each person/profile? ("About Reviews & Ratings")

Reviews and ratings are a way for students to know they are working for a good person and for employers to know they are hiring a student with experience. After you complete a job you are prompted to review the other user either student or employer. That review will show up on their profile.

What am I supposed to put for “job title”? (Employer Account)

The “Job title” field on your employer profile is a section that allows you to list what you do. Simply putting in your standard job title and place of work is another way students can identify your authenticity. If you are unsure what to put for job title, just copy and paste what you have on your linkedin If you are a business or company, you can put in your website under your job title as long as you keep the URL short. Example. “Grindstoneapp.com”

What should I put in the about me section? (Employer Account)

The about me section is a place for you to tell whoever you are hiring a little about yourself. It shows that you are a real person and it is a conversation starter. Some good things to add are, what you look for in an employee, your hobbies, passions, etc. If you are a business or company, you can give a short bio about your business.
